Essential Duties
- Manages all policies, procedures and practices necessary to ensure safe, economical and efficient operation of the central steam & chilled water plant.
- Ensures that all installations, inspections, operations, maintenance and repairs are handled properly for all plant generating equipment and the piping distribution system and other related peripheral equipment.
- Maintains knowledge, observes and ensures the implementation and compliance of all safety rules, and regulations relating to the diverse operation under his/her control, being particularly aware of the type of conditions that could lead to fire or explosion.
- Makes cost estimates, requisitions materials, parts, supplies, tools etc., as required for proper plant operation.
- Reviews weekly and monthly plant production reports prior to submission to accounting section for preparation of customer billing.
- Prepares various management reports upon request.
- Stays abreast of changing technology, procedures, and safety codes and relays this information to all appropriate personnel.
- Reports any on-the-job accidents and prepares and submits an Injury/Exposure Information Report.
- Ensures all University, departmental and plant policies are followed.
- Develops and schedules employee assignments, work schedules and vacations for proper plant coverage.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of any site support position to include assisting any skilled trade.
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 60 months managerial experience at a physical plant.
Equivalency/Substitution
Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.
