Statistician and Mathematician, Senior

As a statistician and mathematician at Booz Allen, you can use applicable skills to help turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges. Across private and public sectors—from fraud detection to cancer research to national intelligence—you’ll help find the answers in the data.

On our team, you’ll use your leadership skills and statistics expertise to create real-world impact. You’ll work closely with clients to understand their questions and needs, and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll guide teammates and lead the development of algorithms and systems. You’ll use the right combination of tools and mathematic principles to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to advise your clients as they make informed decisions. Ultimately, you’ll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used.

Responsibilities

• Correlate complex technical findings into graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products
• Develop and apply statistical models and methods to evaluate data
• Work on classified networks and in support of Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) clients
• Work independently with minimal oversight and direction
• Lead the development of algorithms and systems

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with scientific techniques such as mathematics, statistics, information science, AI, machine learning, probability modeling, data mining, data engineering, or data warehousing (or 12+ years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)
• Experience developing and applying statistical models and methods to evaluate data
• Ability to work on classified networks and in support of DoD or IC clients
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reviewing and evaluating technical documentation for compliance with applicable standards
• Experience developing and executing Testing, Evaluation, Verification, and Validation procedures or evaluating AI system performance, robustness, and fairness
• Experience with AI governance
• Ability to work a non-standard or shift schedule
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Pay

Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD).

Schedule

This role may require working a non-standard or shift schedule, depending on client needs.

Work Model

Our people-first culture prioritizes collaboration, whether in person or virtually. Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings.

• Remote: Occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility may be required.
• Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential visits to customer facilities as needed.
• Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, collaborating directly with colleagues and customers.
