Statistical Clinical Programmer

About the role

Supports the clinical drug research and development process by providing strategic planning and execution, including data transformation and all aspects of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics of data related to clinical projects like actual trial data, registries and real-world databases. This includes the provision of analytics tools, outputs and inference as necessary for specific use cases. Represents Data Programming and Visualization (DP&V) at a trial/asset level regarding data science-related aspects.

Responsibilities

• Transform, analyze, and report phase I-IV clinical trials and/or other data from research and development, such as registries and real-world databases, for specific use cases or projects/assets.
• Stay abreast of data science advancements, particularly new transformation and analysis solutions and innovative processes/tools within Boehringer Ingelheim.
• Present compelling, validated stories regarding data science aspects to DP&V colleagues.
• Ensure data transformation and analysis specifications are complete, correct, and adhere to department guidelines, SOPs, and applicable GxP requirements.
• Support colleagues on data science-related tasks.
• Participate in cross-functional DP&V internal working groups and drive/plan relevant data science aspects.
• Ensure cross-functional and team-based collaboration within DP&V, fulfilling tasks of other functions as needed and contributing to team-based thinking.

Requirements

• Statistical Clinical Programmer: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) years of data science experience; OR a Master’s degree (MSc) from an accredited institution in a related discipline.
• Senior Statistical Clinical Programmer: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years of data science experience; OR a Master’s degree (MSc) with a minimum of three (3) years of data science experience within the pharmaceutical industry, CROs, regulatory authorities, or academic institutions.
• Working experience may be partially compensated by broad and deep topic-specific knowledge.
• Experience in software languages (R is strongly preferred) relevant for business needs.
• Understanding of the clinical trial development process.
• Knowledge of statistical methodology, design of clinical trials or clinical experiments, basic medical terminology, processing clinical trial information, and Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC).
• Understanding and application of key principles of data science.
• Demonstrated knowledge in planning, transforming, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data in clinical trials or data from other sources in clinical research and development.
• Fluent in English (read/write/speak).
• Mindful of local, global, internal, and external cultures to ensure effective communication.
• Strong teamwork skills, including in global and remote contexts.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people internally and externally (e.g., CROs, experts, management).
• Ability to proactively identify issues and solutions and interact with internal and external bodies on routine data science matters.

Pay

The base salary range for Statistical Clinical Programmer is $115,000.00 to $181,000.00. The base salary range for Senior Statistical Clinical Programmer is $140,000.00 to $222,000.00. The position may be eligible for a role-specific discretionary bonus, relocation, and/or other compensation elements. Salary ranges are reviewed continuously and may be adjusted in the future based on market data. Actual compensation will be based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
