Stationary Engineer - Cereal
About the role
The Stationary Engineer, Cereal Plant is responsible for operating and maintaining power plant equipment to ensure the smooth functioning of the facility. This includes boilers, compressors, cogeneration and HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality foods consumed nationwide
- Work with experienced teams to pass down knowledge to new workers
- Challenging yourself to do the job right and gain skills for future opportunities
- Install, maintain, and repair power plant equipment
- Identify and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues
- Provide technical support for equipment troubleshooting and controls
- Modify equipment as needed
- Perform both uptime and downtime preventative maintenance according to the master PM schedule
- Corrective maintenance as required
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform performance
- Avoid working on weekends, holidays, and evenings
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- First-Class Stationary Engineer License from the City of Buffalo
- 3+ years experience in operation of a mid-size power plant
- 4+ years maintenance experience with basic knowledge in pipe fitting, electrical troubleshooting, and blueprint reading
- Working knowledge of PLC's, HVAC systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Preferred: NYS 7G Pesticide Application Certification, EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification, Experience with industrial air compressors, NFPA 70e Certification, Experience with cooling towers and water treatment, Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, twist for extended periods
- Able to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environments
- Able to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
- Able to work in a tobacco-free environment

Schedule
The 8-hour swing shift schedule rotates every week with designated days off. Shifts are:
- 1st shift: 6 am to 2 pm
- 2nd shift: 2 pm to 10 pm
- 3rd shift: 10 pm to 6 am
Ability and willingness to work any shift, including days, nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays. Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
