Stationary Engineer

Job Description

Under the direction of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer, this position performs maintenance of equipment and machinery at Mills-Peninsula Health Services. Primary duties include ensuring efficient and reliable operation of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, and operating room equipment.

• Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC equipment (including chillers and boilers)
• Trains and supervises other tradespeople as necessary
• Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Participates in performance improvement and information management activities

Skills and Knowledge

• Basic computer skills
• Working knowledge of medical gas distribution and alarm systems, water treatment, steam systems, refrigeration, compressors, pumps, electric motors, and variable frequency drives
• Preventive maintenance and work order system
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds
• Knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems
• Thorough knowledge of plant tools and equipment
• Observance of safety precautions
• Knowledge of age-specific patient needs

Qualifications

• Three years related experience and/or training
• Engineering background in acute care hospital preferred
• Journeyman level field service experience in industrial electrical and/or refrigeration

Pay

The compensation range is $73.25 to $73.25 per hour, with the actual amount varying based on the geographic location of the position. Total compensation includes base pay, bonuses, and other benefits.

Shift and Schedule

Variably scheduled, full-time, 8 days a week, with weekend requirements.
