Stationary Engineer

About the role

Operation and maintenance of steam boilers, air-conditioning and associated support equipment. Operates and maintains building HVAC control systems.

What You Will Be Doing

• Operates and maintains all steam boilers, air-conditioning systems and associates HVAC support equipment in a professional manner; troubleshoots and facilitates repair to maintain space conditions in a timely manner
• Performs preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment without supervision
• Performs routine maintenance on all HVAC equipment
• Performs daily inspections of equipment, logs operating conditions, and when operating parameters are not within guidelines, seeks resolution and correction; documents actions and operating abnormalities
• Maintains comfort levels in facility; operates equipment within temperature and humidity guidelines set forth by policy
• Operates and maintains medical gas and vac systems within guidelines
• Cleans equipment and work area regularly to provide a safe and clean working environment
• Interacts with fellow staff in a professional manner; communicates effectively, shares information freely, offers suggestions, and takes responsibility for all equipment within the facility

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Formal trade school or apprenticeship education or equivalent experience to an associate degree level
• Two (2) to three (3) years of experience to acquire advanced knowledge of the Hospital’s steam plant equipment and all other machinery within the department’s area of responsibility and the mechanical skills necessary to maintain and repair such complex machinery
• Training on boilers is desired
• Licensed by the City of Chicago as a Stationary Engineer

Pay

Pay Range: $29.58 - $45.85 per hour. Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
