STATIONARY ENGINEER

About the Role

This position is with the Department of State Hospital – Coalinga, a self-contained psychiatric hospital serving forensically committed patients, primarily sexually violent predators. The facility features a security perimeter managed by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), which also handles patient transportation for external medical services and court proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, install, and repair boiler, heating, air conditioning, ventilating, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems.
• Instruct or lead workers, including patient interactions.
• Perform related work as required.

Pay

$6,088.00 - $7,707.00 per month. New state employees start at the minimum salary of the classification or alternate range. A 3% salary reduction applies under the Personal Leave Program (PLP), with approximately 5 hours of PLP leave accrued each qualifying pay period through June 30, 2027.
