Job Summary
Assists with monitoring boiler plant and ensuring an adequate supply of steam for heat, sterilization and other hospital requirements. Monitors fuel supplies and performs preventative maintenance. Responsible for assisting in the departmental plan for the operation, maintenance and repair of all the facility’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Assists in the maintenance of the facility’s buildings and grounds. Assists and materially contributes to regulatory and/or accreditation agency guidelines, requirements and recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Affirms maximum climate control of heating, air conditioning and humidity and maintains to the highest order all other miscellaneous heating and cooling equipment.
- Inspects and repairs power plant/boiler equipment for proper operation.
- Performs preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance of related systems.
- Calibrates controls, performs air balancing, adjusts, repairs thermostats, valves, compressors, pumps and associated chilled water and condensing unit system.
- Maintains and repairs boilers and associated domestic/heating systems.
- Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Special Skills : Knowledge of boiler systems, water treatment, code restrictions, HVAC equipment and auxiliaries, i.e., pumps, valves, controls and computer systems. Knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry, maintenance and the tools and materials used in the preventive maintenance of the facility. Knowledge of building controls. Ability to read blueprints.
- Minimum Requirements- Experience: Five years.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Preferred Requirements
- Certifications: Boiler Operator Training required or must obtain within 90 days.
