Station Mechanic III
About the role
The Station Mechanic III is responsible for safely maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing mechanical equipment and related systems at natural gas production, gathering, compression, and station facilities. This role performs skilled mechanical work on compressors, engines, pumps, valves, piping, vessels, dehydration equipment, and other station assets to support reliable operations, equipment uptime, regulatory compliance, and safe field performance. Works with limited supervision, applies established procedures and technical judgment to resolve non-routine mechanical issues, and may provide guidance to less experienced mechanics. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair station mechanical equipment including natural gas compressors, engines, pumps, valves, piping, dehydration equipment, separators, vessels, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, overhauls, component replacements, alignments, adjustments, lubrication, and equipment testing in accordance with procedures, work orders, and manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnose mechanical failures using operating data, gauges, vibration, pressure, temperature, visual inspection, and other troubleshooting methods.
- Operate, isolate, lock out, and return equipment to service safely while coordinating with operations, automation, electrical, measurement, and supervisory personnel.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection findings, parts usage, equipment history, and compliance documentation.
- Respond to callouts, equipment alarms, abnormal operating conditions, leaks, shutdowns, and mechanical failures to minimize downtime and support safe, reliable operations.
- Follow all safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements including control of hazardous energy, hot work, confined space, pressure safety, spill prevention, and required PPE practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices, parts availability, operating efficiency, and field safety.
- Mentor or assist less experienced mechanics and technicians by sharing technical knowledge, safe work practices, and troubleshooting approaches.
