Station Cleaner

Responsibilities

• Washes floors, corridors, stairs, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows (inside or outside of buildings) using mops, brushes, detergents, buffers, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning implements.
• Collects, transports, and disposes of medical waste or spoiled linens in accordance with cleaning procedures.
• Strips and waxes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets; and dusts assigned areas using manual or mechanical equipment.
• Cleans and scrubs all areas of lavatories and locker rooms, including sinks, urinals, toilets, showers, shower walls and drains, tile floors, and locker room common areas.
• Replaces light bulbs, dusts or washes light fixtures, and cleans high places such as ceilings using ladders and scaffolds.
• Cleans and polishes furniture, metal fixtures, and equipment.
• Removes hazardous articles from floors, furniture, and equipment and places them in designated receptacles.
• Moves furniture and equipment for cleaning activities or sets up for meetings or special events.
• Changes curtains and drapes and hangs pictures and other decorative objects.
• Empties trash, recyclables, and waste in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
• Assembles cleaning cart to conform to assigned duties and mixes and properly dilutes cleaning solutions following manufacturer directions.
• Wears appropriate protective clothing and specialized protective equipment as required.
• Checks supplies and equipment functioning; notifies supervisor of low supply levels, equipment malfunction, or building maintenance issues.
• May remove snow and salt walkways; clean sidewalks, yards, and drives; and mow lawns using manual or mechanical equipment.
• May be assigned to laboratories, clean rooms, or custodial care settings requiring a high degree of cleanliness and adherence to disinfectant processes to minimize infection spread.

Requirements

• Must be able to perform physical labor.
• Must be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.
• Knowledge of various cleaning substances and ability to use cleaning equipment and products.

Pay

Starting salary: $16.43/hour.

Any employee assigned to a lab will be required to undergo additional pre-employment screenings, including a urine drug screening and polygraph. Resumes will be evaluated to determine whether candidates will proceed to the interview phase. Candidates must provide documentation of authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis. The New York State Police does not hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or permanent residence.
