Statewide Coordinator, Idaho Project for Children and Youth with Deaf-Blindness

Center on Disabilities and Human Development (CDHD), an independent unit within the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, improves the lives of people with disabilities and their families through interdisciplinary workforce education, community-based training and technical assistance, research, direct services, and dissemination of evidence-based information.

About the role

The Statewide Coordinator (SC) will provide face-to-face, online, and virtual training and technical assistance (TA) to families, service providers, and agency personnel to improve services and outcomes for children birth through 21 with deafblindness. This position will work alongside the Associate Director of the Center on Disabilities and Human Development to implement the goals and objectives of the Idaho Project for Children and Youth with Deaf-Blindness Grant (IPCYD). The IPCYD will partner with national and statewide disability agencies and programs to collaborate on federal and state disability activities, statutes, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and technical assistance to families, service providers, and agency personnel
• Implement goals and objectives of the Idaho Project for Children and Youth with Deaf-Blindness Grant (IPCYD)
• Collaborate with national and statewide disability agencies and programs on federal and state disability activities, statutes, and policies

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Education (required at time of application)
• Five years of experience in one of the following:
  • Public education
  • Teaching special education
  • Providing state-level technical special education technical assistance focused on IDEA Part C or Part B
  • Working for a State Deafblind Project funded through OSEP with IDEA Part D
• Direct work with students with deafblindness
• Direct work with students with low-incidence disabilities
• Experience writing or supporting an Individual Education Program (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)
• Must currently possess or obtain within one year: Membership with the Council for Exceptional Children- Division of Visual Impairments and Deafblindness (DVIDB)

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Education or related degree (preferred)
• Eight years of experience in one of the following (preferred):
  • Public education
  • Teaching special education
  • Providing state-level technical special education technical assistance for IDEA Part C or Part B
  • Working for a State Deafblind Project funded through OSEP with IDEA Part D
• Expertise in working with students with deafblindness in instruction, communication, and mobility (preferred)
• Experience collaborating with outside agencies (preferred)
• Experience providing professional development or training to Local Education Agencies (LEA) that have children with deafblindness (preferred)
• Experience providing technical assistance to families who have children with deafblindness (preferred)

Pay

$77,000.00 or higher commensurate with experience

Schedule

Full-time, fiscal year appointment (1.00 FTE)
