Annual Salary: $43,572.00 - $65,208.00. This position is in-office and requires a criminal background check.
About the role
Under general supervision, this position performs professional photography work of average difficulty. It is the working level within the State Photographer series, involving a variety of assignments such as advertising, public relations, news, illustration, location, studio, and portrait photography. The role requires understanding and adherence to photography/videography guidelines and standards, with a strong grasp of composition, lighting, and balance. Incumbents develop relationships across all levels of State Government to handle sensitive situations effectively.
Responsibilities
- Uses photographic and video equipment to capture subjects, places, or events, including staging subjects or areas and working directly with customers.
- Identifies valuable photos or videos for project use.
- Processes, archives, and retrieves digital image assets.
- Maintains records of equipment and hours allocated to projects.
- Interacts routinely with the media and public.
- Travels across the state to fulfill photo requests.
Qualifications
Preferred Education & Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in photography, and two years of full-time increasingly responsible and skilled photographic work.
Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time increasingly responsible and skilled photographic work may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years.
