State Fair Worker - Events Staff Equipment Operator
Position Information
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking several State Fair Workers to perform maintenance activities and operate various equipment as part of their Events Staff at the Great New York State Fair. These Event Staff positions are part of a 24/7 operation, ensuring the maintenance of event facilities on the New York State Fairgrounds.
- Set up and transport furniture and equipment, such as tables, chairs, picnic benches, and barricades in preparation for special events and meetings.
- Maintain the outdoors by shoveling snow, spreading ice-melt on walkways, using leaf blowers, and clearing barn stalls post-events.
- Cater to various event-related needs as they arise.
- Operate equipment including: Skid Steers, Front-End Loaders, Tractors with multiple drag attachments, Street sweepers, Tele-handlers, Various sized Ariel Lifts, Scissors Lifts, Ride on Floor Scrubbers, Walk-behind Scrubbers, Rollers.
Location
The positions are conveniently located at the New York State Fairgrounds at 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, New York. We offer a professional and comfortable working environment with ample free parking.
Shifts
- 1st shift: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM
- 2nd shift: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- 3rd shift: 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience in the operation of one or more of the pieces of equipment noted above.
- Candidates must have the physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor.
- When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
