State Fair of Virginia Horticulture Setup & Teardown

About the role

Under the guidance of the Horticulture Superintendent, this role provides labor for setup and teardown of props and displays along with general cleanup.

Responsibilities

• Move props
• Assist in loading and unloading displays and entries
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized display area
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Other duties as assigned by Horticulture Superintendent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take direction
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
• Punctuality
• Ability to work multiple days in a row
• Applicant must be available September 21 – 24 & October 5 - 8, 2026
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Position will begin and end on dates listed above

Status: Hourly, non-exempt
Compensation: $13.00 hourly
Location: Doswell, Virginia – State Fair of Virginia
Reports to: Horticulture Superintendent
