State and Local Tax Associate

About the role

The State and Local Tax team is seeking an Associate to gain experience in tax compliance and consulting services specific to State and Local Taxes, working on complex indirect tax audits, managed audits, recovery of tax overpayments, tax research projects, and analyzing tax issues across diverse industries.

Responsibilities

• Working on complex indirect tax audits
• Managing managed audits
• Recovering tax overpayments (reverse audits)
• Preparing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries
• Researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues and tax implications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
• Strong project management skills

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA Candidate, CPA, or CMI in progress or complete
• Internship or light experience in public accounting
• Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
• Sales & Use Tax
• Property Tax
• State Income and Franchise Tax
