State and Local Government - Senior Consultant OR Managing Consultant - Missouri
What You Will Do
Guidehouse is seeking a Senior Consultant OR Managing Consultant to support the continued growth of the firm's State and Local Government practice, with a particular emphasis on Missouri state government and greater Jefferson City region. Guidehouse's State and Local Government practice serves clients in the areas of business design, organizational strategy, program strategy and implementation, market analysis, financial modeling, operational analysis, process improvement, change management, technology strategy and transformation, compliance monitoring, program management, and reporting.
Key Activities Include
- Manage and lead project delivery teams, including oversight of scope, timelines, budgets, and resources across multiple engagements
- Serve as a trusted advisor to state and local government clients, translating strategy into actionable and sustainable solutions
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to junior- and mid-level staff, fostering professional growth and high-quality delivery
- Drive and support business development efforts, including RFP responses, proposal development, client presentations, and account planning
- Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal Guidehouse teams, particularly across Missouri and key local governments
- Translate strategy into action for our clients
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 3+ (THREE) years of overall work experience for a Senior Consultant and Minimum of 5+ (FIVE) years overall work experience for a Managing consultant, ideally consulting experience or experience in related field
- General technology implementation skills, project management expertise, and client service experience for mission driven organizations
- Demonstrate proven success, create a positive environment and meeting client delivery expectations to include ability to provide candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner, keep leadership informed of progress and issues, and answer questions and provide direction to less-experienced staff
- Strong understanding of Missouri state government and local governments
- Ability to travel as needed to support client engagements, firm growth, and other firm initiatives
- Proven ability to lead and/or deliver fixed-price and time-and-materials projects from initiation through closeout
- Ability to work in a Guidehouse Office and Client Office
- Must reside with 50-mile radius of Jefferson City, MO, Kansas City, MO or St. Louis, MO
What Would Be Nice To Have
- Master's degree (MBA, MPP, MPA, or equivalent)
- Experience with enterprise implementations and modernization programs, including large-scale or multi-agency rollouts with complex governance, vendor coordination, financial oversight, and change management
- Experience with enterprise platforms and implementations such as ERP (financials, procurement, budgeting), HCM, grants management systems, or other enterprise systems, including integrations and data conversion
- Data governance and data classification skills
- Experience directly supporting a Missouri state or local government agency in a leadership or consulting capacity
- PMP, Scrum Master, or other relevant project management certification
- Professional post-graduate experience in mission-driven or public-sector organizations
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Technology strategy and implementation
- Business process redesign
- Business case development
- Familiarity with the government acquisition and procurement process, including identifying and tracking anticipated RFPs, leading or contributing to proposals, and expanding work with existing public-sector clients
