About the role

Kinstead helps experienced Nurse Practitioners across Connecticut start their own independent practices with the support to make it feasible. This opportunity allows you to own your practice, choose your patients, and design your schedule. You’ll build a practice tailored to your preferences—whether that means more time with patients, a flexible schedule, higher earnings, or creating something of your own—without needing to leave your current job immediately. Many NPs start part-time and grow at their own pace.

Support we provide

Starting a practice involves more than patient care. Kinstead handles the business and operational aspects, including:

• Insurance credentialing and payer contracting

• Scheduling and patient intake

Requirements

This opportunity could be a good fit if you:

• Are an experienced FNP, PMHNP, or other Nurse Practitioner
• Hold an active Connecticut NP license and meet the state’s requirements for independent practice
• Have several years of experience caring for patients
• Have strong ties to the community you hope to serve
• Have thought about starting your own practice, even if you’re unsure where to begin
• Want more ownership over how you care for patients and structure your work

You don’t need a business plan, knowledge of credentialing or billing, or readiness to leave your current job.

Getting started

Most practices can cover basic costs with fewer than 3 patient visits per month, and startup costs are typically less than $3,000. As your practice grows, NPs typically take home around $100–$150 per clinical hour, with the potential to earn around $250,000 annually in a full-time practice. Over 40 Nurse Practitioners have already partnered with Kinstead to start and grow their own practices.
