As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Starbucks Department Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service while leading a team and driving department results.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within company policy.
• Resolve customer problems related to sales, service, or department operations.
• Train, schedule, and supervise barista workers to ensure optimal staffing.
• Provide financial reporting to the Store Manager and Field Supervisor.
• Ensure product quality and maintain appropriate stock and inventory.
• Change signs and prices as directed by merchandising guidelines.
• Write orders in the order guidebook, enter them into the computer, and verify completeness upon arrival.
• Brew coffee, tea, and chocolate using various kitchen equipment.
• Operate an electronic cash register, process payments, and make correct change.
• Maintain cleanliness of the coffee service area and equipment.
• Set up and maintain displays in the coffee area.
• Replace stock in the preparation area from the supply area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Prior management experience is desired.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise and schedule barista staff.
