Starbucks Manager
Position Summary
The Starbucks Manager oversees daily operations to ensure an exceptional customer experience, drives sales and profitability, maintains food safety and beverage quality standards, and leads a positive, high-performing team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development - Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop Starbucks associates. Create and maintain work schedules to support business needs and labor targets. Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct performance evaluations. Foster a positive, inclusive, and customer-focused work environment. Ensure associates are knowledgeable about products, promotions, and operational procedures.
Customer Service - Deliver an exceptional customer experience by modeling outstanding service standards. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Build customer loyalty through engagement, product knowledge, and service excellence. Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements as needed.
Operations Management - Oversee daily department operations, including opening, closing, and shift management. Ensure Starbucks beverage and food products are prepared according to company standards. Maintain proper merchandising and presentation standards. Monitor productivity and workflow to optimize operational efficiency. Ensure adherence to all company policies and Starbucks operating standards.
Financial Performance - Achieve department sales, profit, and labor goals. Analyze department performance and implement action plans to drive results. Control operating expenses and minimize waste. Monitor financial reports and key performance indicators.
Inventory & Merchandising - Manage inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing shrink. Complete ordering and receiving functions accurately and timely. Conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate records. Execute promotional and seasonal merchandising plans.
Food Safety & Compliance - Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and safety regulations. Ensure adherence to Starbucks standards and company operational procedures. Conduct routine inspections and correct deficiencies promptly. Promote a safe working environment for associates and customers.
Qualifications
Education - High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience - 2+ years of retail, food service, coffee shop, or hospitality management experience preferred. Previous supervisory or leadership experience required. Experience managing sales, labor, and inventory is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Ability to analyze sales and operational reports. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Proficient with basic computer systems and reporting tools. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
Retail grocery and food service environment. Exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated and hot beverage preparation areas. Fast-paced work environment requiring frequent interaction with customers and associates.
