About the role
As a shift supervisor, you will lead with craft and heart to make your coffeehouse a welcoming space for your community. You’ll prepare beverages and food, manage operations, and ensure every guest leaves with a meaningful moment.
Responsibilities
- Complete opening and closing duties: set up supplies and tools, clean equipment and areas, lock doors.
- Set up, stock, and maintain work areas, including turning appliances (e.g., coffee makers) on/off at appropriate times.
- Input orders into the register system, collect payments, and handle cashier reports, bank counts, and discrepancies.
- Take orders, record them in the Micros Oracle system, and prepare food and coffee beverages to standard or customized recipes.
- Bus coffee cart areas and tables; clean dishes, utensils, work areas, tables, and equipment throughout the day.
- Greet guests, deliver exceptional service, and maintain a calm demeanor during high-volume periods.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop per Starbucks standards.
- Provide quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately and follow safety, security, and emergency procedures.
- Attend required meetings and complete other duties assigned by the supervisor, including cross-training.
Requirements
- Food/Beverage Service Worker Permit, where applicable.
- Read, write, and speak English fluently; high school-level math comprehension.
- Six months of experience in a customer-facing role requiring constant interaction and fulfilling requests.
- Ability to stand for entire shifts and lift/push/pull 40+ lbs.
- Basic knowledge of computers and ability to communicate effectively with the public and team members.
- Meet store operating policies and standards, including cash handling, safety, and security, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Schedule
- Available to work flexible hours, including early mornings (opening shifts start at 5 AM), evenings (closing shifts end at 6 PM), weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Preference for individuals with open availability.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

- Work Habits: Adhere to standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, attendance, and punctuality; report to work and return from breaks on time; accept work assignments without complaints.

- Safety and Security: Be alert to hazards, follow emergency procedures, suggest safety improvements, and report potential risks.
- Money Handling/Cash Control: Follow audit standards for cash handling; keep accurate cash drawer amounts; report tips accurately; give proper change; post charges accurately.
