General Function

This position is responsible for reviewing and filling customer orders, handling food safely, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of; Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; Coffee Shop Department Manager

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
• Greets customers with a smile and addresses them by name
• Aids customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading, and passing along suggestions or requests
• Takes customer orders and handles payments
• Works as a team member to maintain a pleasant work environment
• Maintains cleanliness and safety standards in the work area
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Secondary Duties And Responsibilities

• Washes dishes as necessary
• Orders and prices products
• Assists in other areas of the store as needed

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Worker Characteristics

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
• Ability to write identifying information

Education And Experience

Less than high school or equivalent experience and six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform medium work
• Must have clarity of vision, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions

Working Conditions

• Conducted in a store environment
• Significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities
• Exposure to noise, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals/solvents, and possible electrical shock and temperature extremes

Equipment Used To Perform Job

• Standard tools and equipment used in a coffee shop environment including disposal, trash compactor, dishwasher, register system, ice machines, pop machine, scales, and knives.

• Daily contact with the general public and customers
• Contact with federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies regarding inspections

Pay

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience.

Schedule

Shifts are available during night and weekend hours.
