Inspiration and Design Philosophy
Inspired by the Montessori pedagogy, floor-level beds offer children a true cocoon—an intimate and comforting space—while fostering their creativity and autonomy. Thanks to its modular structure, the bed evolves with the child, offering several configurations: a simple, minimalist version or a more playful option with a cabin feel reminiscent of our best-selling model.
Customisation and Belgian Craftsmanship
With the STAR Light collection, Mathy by Bols continues to reinvent itself by focusing on adaptability and personalisation through its "Create yours" credo. You are free to customise every detail to create a bed that reflects your desires and meets your child's specific needs. Designed to last, the STAR Light collection stands out for its high-quality materials and 100% Belgian manufacturing. Each piece is built for strength and durability, ensuring the collection can support the child throughout their development.
Model Configurations
The Star Light collection features four initial evolving models:
- STAR Light BASE: Stands only 41 cm high. The frame is surrounded by panels with a 92 cm return at the front, creating a small, easily accessible cocoon. This bed can later be raised to add an under-bed drawer or storage unit.
- Models 1, 2, and 3: Equipped with a roof-like structure that better defines the sleeping area's volume and offers many options for hanging decorative elements.
- Model 1: The most airy design, built in high-quality solid white spruce with invisible assembly hardware.
- Model 2: Adds a set of 4 lacquered panels surrounding the sleeping area for security. The panel design mimics constructions made from reclaimed planks of different widths and shapes, giving it the signature Mathy-by-BOLS "cabin" look.
- Model 3: Adds roof panels and a large shelf for storing books and stuffed animals.
Optional Add-ons and Dimensions
- Add-on kits available for all models: Bed or storage drawer kit, and bunk bed kit.
- Mattress sizes available: 90 or 120 cm wide, and 190 or 200 cm long.
Finishes and Colours
- Standard finish: Natural varnish for the base structure and lacquer for the cladding panels.
- Colour options: Choice of 25 standard colours. On request and at an additional cost, the structure can also be lacquered or finished in any RAL or NCS colour.
Assembly and Materials
- For all models, headboards, footboards, side rails, cladding panels, ladder, and assembly hardware are fully assembled in the workshop. This ensures final assembly is simple, quick, and highly sturdy.
- All woods are PEFC certified, and we use only water-based finishing products that meet safety standards for wooden toys (EN 71-3).
