Standardized Patient

Responsibilities

• Must be highly dependable and punctual
• Demonstrate flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignments especially during the training period
• Precisely follow written and verbal instruction
• Provide constructive feedback to medical students and colleagues
• Aid in the training process of other standardized patients when called upon
• Work in a professional manner when interacting with learners, faculty, supervisors, and peers
• Be comfortable having repeat non-invasive physical examination maneuvers performed on self for long periods of time
• Willingness to wear a hospital gown with only undergarments underneath, while on camera and/or observed live through an observation window or video monitor
• Accurately and consistently simulate all aspects of scenarios, including history of current problem/chief complaint, affect/behavior, and physical findings, in a standardized, accurate, reliable manner, and consistent manner
• Accurately and consistently complete checklists, daily cleaning logs of rooms, and training assignments
• Accept ongoing feedback from facilitators/supervisors and incorporate into case simulation
• Willingness to be audio and videotaped during simulations
• Must know how to follow the proper chain of command for the department if/when issues arise
• Have good decision-making skills when immediate supervision is not immediately available
• Have stable internet/cellular data/phone connection to attend meetings in regard to upcoming labs and virtual labs
• Accountability for other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Medical knowledge and acting skills are preferred but not required
