About the role
As an editorial intern at WPG Kinderboeken, you’ll support the teams behind Condor, Leopold, Ploegsma, and Witte Leeuw for six months. You’ll assist with nearly every stage of the publishing process, from proofreading and correcting typeset pages to evaluating manuscripts and illustrations for consistency. You’ll also write short texts for catalogs or the website, handle rights requests for anthologies, and occasionally help with book launches and events.
Responsibilities
- Correct texts and typeset proofs, verifying that corrections are properly implemented
- Read and assess incoming manuscripts, including new work from established authors
- Review illustrations to ensure they align with the accompanying text
- Write brief promotional copy for catalogs and the website
- Request reproduction rights for text and images used in anthologies
- Assist with book presentations and other publishing events as needed
- Handle various practical tasks that contribute to the book-production process
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an HBO or university program
- Passionate about books, especially children’s literature
- Excellent command of the Dutch language
- Proactive and willing to tackle any task that supports the team
- Living in the Noord-Holland region or holding a student OV card for commuting
