About the Role
The Hiring/Staffing Specialist is a member of the Site Operations team, leading frontline recruiting, staffing, and community outreach for a Lazer Logistics site. This role is accountable for executing recruiting strategies, building talent pipelines through partnerships and local engagement, managing hiring pipelines, and supporting onboarding for operations employees. The ideal candidate is proactive and effective in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with site leadership to develop and execute recruiting/hiring strategies for driver and non-driver roles, with a strong focus on proactive sourcing and community-based outreach.
- Lead community engagement efforts to build talent pipelines, including attending job fairs, partnering with local organizations, distributing branded merchandise, and representing the company at hiring events.
- Build and maintain relationships with driving schools, workforce agencies, and community partners to support ongoing and future hiring needs.
- Serve as a thought partner to site leadership on recruiting strategy, hiring priorities, and workforce planning needs.
- Review employment applications and coordinate/manage candidate progress throughout the hiring lifecycle, providing regular status updates to site leadership.
- Partner with the Recruiting team to track recruiting activity and sourcing effectiveness, including reporting on outreach efforts, partnerships, and hiring outcomes.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and conduct weekly new hire and orientation sessions as part of the hiring and onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition from candidate to employee.
- Complete onboarding activities, including site-specific operational policies, general safety practices, and coordination of required personal protective equipment (e.g., vests, footwear).
- Partner with Operations and Safety teams to ensure new hires are prepared, compliant, and job-ready.
- Support employee relations by maintaining close working relationships with local site management and the HR team.
- Monitor, respond to, and document employee inquiries across all levels via phone and email, in coordination with the HR team.
- Process and coordinate new hires, employee changes, leaves of absence, unemployment claims, and separations with the HR team in accordance with company requirements and applicable federal and state laws.
- Generate routine and ad-hoc reports to support operational needs.
- Assist in identifying, implementing, and reinforcing policies and process improvements where applicable.
- Promote a business partner and ownership mindset to prioritize operational excellence, adaptability, resilience to change, and continuous improvement.

Pay
$60,000.00–$70,000.00 per year
