The show is anchored by a former chief of MI6 and features guests including senior intelligence officials, foreign correspondents, heads of government, and authors. The team is launching a website and newsletter this fall to build out the written side of the show.This is a writing and research role. The writer produces two to three articles per week tied to podcast episodes, conducts background research, and contributes to a weekly newsletter. Byline credit is included: some pieces run under the writer's own name, some are co-authored, and some are written in the show's voice. The position starts September 2026 and requires reliable availability on Wednesdays and Fridays during New York business hours.What the Role CoversWriting two to three articles per week (800 to 1,200 words) on topics linked to podcast episodesConducting research, fact-checking, context-building, and sourcing to support those articlesContributing preparatory research for podcast episodes, including summarizing relevant books and articlesIdentifying articles, interviews, and reporting from other publications worth surfacing to the audience and packaging the best of it for a weekly newsletterAssisting with writing and editing promotional and website materials, including episode summariesQualificationsDemonstrated writing ability with published clips (journalism, research organizations, policy publications, or a personal newsletter all count)Real fluency in international affairs, security, and geopolitics, with the ability to read a transcript about complex topics and know what matters without a briefingJudgment about what is interesting to a smart non-specialist and the discipline to cut what is notComfort writing in someone else's voice as well as your ownSpeed and reliability against fixed weekly deadlinesComfort using AI tools as a drafting and research aid, with the judgment to verify everythingHelpful but not requiredExperience in podcast or broadcast productionSEO and headline writing for publisher sitesNewsletter writingOriginal reporting experience and sources in national security or foreign policyTo apply: Send a short note on why the show interests you, three writing samples, and a one-paragraph pitch for an article based on a recent episode.
