Staff Writer
We are seeking an experienced and creative Staff Writer with a passion for strategic communication, language, and persuasive writing. This mid-level role involves collaborating with account managers and company executives to produce original content for corporate and non-profit clients across diverse industries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable with proofreading, editing, and multitasking.
About the role
This is an exempt, in-person position based in our Falls Church, Virginia office. Travel is minimal (less than 5%).
Responsibilities
- Produce a range of written materials—including op-eds, press releases, white papers, and talking points—on tight deadlines (80% of role).
- Participate in client-facing meetings and discovery processes to align with messaging goals (10% of role).
- Provide timely edits and review written content from other staff writers while maintaining deadlines (10% of role).
- Support the PR team with additional editing and written communication as needed.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of professional writing experience.
- Ability to synthesize information into persuasive arguments.
- Strong research skills and familiarity with AP Style.
- Undergraduate degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Skills
- Comfortable working on tight deadlines and balancing multiple projects across diverse clients.
- Ability to provide and receive editorial feedback from editors, staff writers, PR teams, and clients.
- Willingness to collaborate across teams to ensure high-quality output.
- Initiative to self-start and problem-solve independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Background or familiarity with journalism and media.
- Interest in and awareness of current events.
- Experience with Slack and Google Workspace.

Pay
Salary range: $60,000–$65,000, negotiable based on experience.
