Staff Veterinarian - Western IA

About the role

This position provides veterinary service and support to Iowa Select Farms animals, focusing on multiplication system veterinary support and regional commercial sow farm support.

Responsibilities

• Develop and assist in implementing Biosecurity Protocols for the system.
• Assess health on site including diagnostic collection and data organization.
• Train swine caretakers on proper biosecurity techniques and acceptable protocols.
• Evaluate overall ventilation and feed/water system management in relationship to overall herd health and well-being.
• Conduct one-on-one training with farm personnel and swine caretakers to develop techniques that will positively impact production.
• Evaluate overall ventilation and feed/water system management in relationship to overall herd health and well-being.
• Utilize production records to assess the effectiveness of the herd health programs.

Requirements

• Maintain current PQA+ Advisor Certification.
• Adhere to Iowa Select Farms bio-security policy at all times.
• Comply with Iowa Select Farms safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in the Production Well-being team if an incident occurs.
• Collaborate with the Production Well-being team in a timely manner if an incident occurs.

Qualifications

• A DVM with emphasis in swine production.
• Experience in the swine field is required.
