About the role

HoneyBook is the leading AI-powered business management platform for service-based business owners, designed to enhance—not replace—independent professionals. Our AI-powered tools help businesses attract leads, connect with clients, book projects, and manage payments more efficiently. With AI seamlessly integrated into every workflow, entrepreneurs can focus on their craft while scaling their businesses with confidence.

Since its founding in 2013, HoneyBook has powered over 25 million client relationships and processed more than $12 billion in transactions, helping independent businesses grow faster and smarter. Our culture is built on five core values that inform everything we do: collaboration, feedback, ownership, growth mindset, and passion for what we do.

We’re looking for a Staff UX Researcher who brings a proven ability to lead high-impact research, shape product strategy, and guide cross-functional priorities through insight and collaboration. In this role, you’ll take ownership of complex, multi-method research initiatives that influence decisions across product, design, engineering, marketing, and analytics. This role is hybrid to our New York hub, 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Own complex, multi-method research initiatives end-to-end, from framing and planning through execution and synthesis to shape product direction and cross-functional priorities.
  • Generate rigorous, actionable insights that drive confident decision-making and reflect the real needs of members and the business.
  • Craft compelling narratives that connect research insights to product and business strategy, adapting communication to build alignment across executive and cross-functional audiences.
  • Align cross-functional teams around research goals, decisions, and priorities, facilitating shared understanding and team-wide ownership of outcomes.
  • Continuously evolve your research craft by staying current on industry trends and applying new methods, tools, and approaches to improve team effectiveness.
  • Leverage AI to streamline the research process, such as participant outreach, data analysis, synthesis, and reporting while ensuring outputs are accurate, interpretable, and methodologically sound.
  • Influence department-level decisions by championing user research, aligning insights with company priorities, and proactively identifying emerging opportunities grounded in member needs and trends.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to set research direction and strategy by proactively identifying opportunities, framing problems, and guiding teams toward impactful, insight-driven decisions aligned with member needs and company objectives.
  • Highly skilled at defining research execution strategies, scoping multi-phase projects, and aligning cross-functional teams on priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex research findings and craft compelling narratives that influence decisions across cross-functional and executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively under pressure and ambiguity, with a track record of setting boundaries, cutting through noise, and enabling teams to engage productively with research.
  • Forward-thinking mindset around AI, with the ability to leverage AI tools in your workflow while staying current and bringing perspective on how AI can enhance research processes and team effectiveness.
  • Experience establishing practices and standards that improve research quality, insight communication, and team alignment.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience owning complex UX research initiatives spanning multiple workstreams and cross-functional stakeholders using a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills to share study plans, findings, and implications with clarity, persuasion, and adaptability for different audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity while guiding teams toward clarity and impact.
  • Experience coaching and elevating peers across functions by modeling research excellence, scaling best practices, and fostering growth via feedback and mentorship.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across time zones with remote teammates and members, and occasional travel to meet in person.
  • Experience with UX research-related tools, such as Qualtrics, Ballpark, UserTesting, User Interviews, and Great Question.
  • A master's degree, PhD, or equivalent in sociology, psychology, human-computer interaction, or a related field is preferred.

Benefits

  • Mission-driven work with a focus on helping independent businesses succeed.
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity grants.
  • Wellness programs and exceptional family leave policies.
  • Collaborative, supportive, and intellectually curious culture.
  • Opportunities for growth, innovation, and impact in a fast-paced environment.
