Staff Therapist II

Union Level position within Counseling and Psychological Services, located on the Stockton campus. This is a full-time, 12-month role with an open-ended duration.

About the Role

A licensed professional responsible for providing mental health services that reduce barriers and create opportunities for greater academic achievement and student success. This is an in-person position in the Stockton office. This recruitment is to hire for four (4) vacancies.

Responsibilities

• Provides group, individual, couples therapy, and psychoeducational workshops to a culturally diverse college student body in accordance with the university statement on diversity and inclusion.
• Consults with faculty, staff, and students regarding student concerns and participates in university-wide committees.
• Keeps accurate and timely electronic records on all contacts with clients.
• Maintains compliance with ethical standards in the execution of services in accordance with the American Psychological Association, university policies, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations, and a commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
• Participates in staff and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Represents CAPS at campus events including outreach presentations and orientation sessions.
• Attends professional development opportunities.
• Maintains licensure status with the appropriate California board.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Open to persons specifically trained to provide therapy at either the Masters or Doctoral Level (e.g., clinical social work, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology) and licensed to provide therapy at the Masters level (LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT).
• Current valid license to practice psychology as an independent practitioner in the State of California or valid license to practice in a state in the United States and able to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (maximum of 180 days subject to the specifics of the regulation).
• Two (2) years of experience working with adolescents or adults.
• Willingness to relocate within California, preferably within 25 miles of the Stockton Pacific campus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the University’s fleet rules to drive for University business.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Titanium Schedule (EHR).
• Ability to work well with a diverse client population.
• Demonstrated skills in culturally competent approaches to multiple modalities of therapy (e.g., group, individual, couples, crisis interventions, consultation, and workshops).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to teach in an informal workshop setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated through the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other university departments.
• Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
• Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent sitting and verbal communication with occasional walking and standing.
• Infrequent bending, stooping, kneeling, or reaching above shoulders.
• May be expected to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Use of computers, phones, and other technology.

Work Environment

• Work is primarily performed in a clinical or office environment, with some outreach performed outdoors or on other campuses.
• Work is generally performed during standard business hours but may require non-business hours.
• Moderate travel may be required.

Pay

$85,000 - $95,000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
