About the Role

This role is within the Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) Compliance Technical Program Management Team which delivers critical & strategic technical compliance outcomes by directing and scaling engineering effort across organizational and functional boundaries. The programs they lead have most or all of these characteristics: strategic importance to Pinterest; distributed ownership; complexity; critical technical area or platform.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Staff-level Technical Program Manager with deep security domain fluency and strong technical judgment, who excels at strategically leading complex, cross-functional programs and influencing senior leadership. This person must also embrace an AI-first execution mindset, leveraging GenAI to streamline program operations while ensuring compliance and safety-by-design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic Security programs that are complex, ambiguous, and multi-org in nature, with direct ownership of execution across planning, dependency management, decision-making, communications, and outcomes.
  • Partner with Security leadership and Engineering Leads to run annual strategy planning, translate priorities into an executable roadmap, and define success metrics and leadership reporting.
  • Drive program development, coordination, and communications across Security and key partners, with Product and Engineering as core strategic partners and close collaboration with Platforms, Trust & Safety, and Growth.
  • Own the operating cadence for high-priority security initiatives, including clear milestones, governance, risk management, executive updates, and escalation paths.
  • Help teams deliver improvements across Pinterest systems and processes in areas such as vulnerability management, business continuity, disaster recovery, and separation of development/production management.
  • Define and improve mechanisms for program health, status reporting, and cross-functional accountability so leadership has a reliable view of progress, risk, and impact.
  • Use GenAI as the default operating model for EP PgM execution—producing AI-assisted first drafts of core program artifacts, modernizing high-toil workflows into AI-first mechanisms (e.g., intake triage, status synthesis, action/decision extraction, risk & dependency tracking), and synthesizing signals to proactively surface risks, decision/trade-offs, and escalation paths.
  • Follow Pinterest AI guidance for risk, governance, and safety-by-design: appropriately handle sensitive data, validate AI-generated outputs, document assumptions/limits, and ensure AI-assisted workflows meet applicable policy/compliance expectations before broad adoption.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technical program management or closely related experience leading large-scale technical programs across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of information security, risk and/or compliance experience.
  • 5+ years of big data and/or cloud experience.
  • Proven success leading strategic, cross-functional programs in security, infrastructure, platform, or other technically complex domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at Staff level: owning ambiguous, company-relevant programs; shaping roadmaps and operating mechanisms; influencing senior leaders; and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Strong technical fluency and judgment, with the ability to understand system tradeoffs, identify technical risks early, and partner effectively with engineering leaders on complex decisions.
  • Experience building metrics, health frameworks, and executive reporting that connect program execution to business and organizational outcomes.
  • Strong track record of driving alignment and execution across Product and Engineering, with additional partnership across Platforms, Trust & Safety, Growth, and related cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: security programs, abuse/anti-automation, fraud or invalid traffic, account security, PCI/compliance, vulnerability management, business continuity, disaster recovery, or access/control governance.
  • AI-first execution mindset: demonstrated ability to use GenAI to accelerate planning, program operations, and stakeholder communications—starting with AI drafts and applying strong judgment to validate, refine, and drive decisions.
  • Workflow design, AI fluency, data & insights orientation: experience turning repeatable program work into durable, low-toil mechanisms and improving decision-making by using GenAI (e.g., strong prompting, vibe coding lightweight scripts/tools, dashboards, data analysis and leveraging agents where appropriate).
  • Safety-by-design AI fluency: experience operating within AI governance expectations (risk assessment, data handling, model/output validation, auditability/traceability) and proactively identifying where AI use is not appropriate or requires additional controls.
  • B.S Degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
