Position Summary
Voya Energy is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to help build and run the company-level program management system that keeps Voya executing against its most important technical, commercial, and operational priorities. This role sits within Strategy & Operations and is designed for a strong cross-functional program manager who can operate at the corporate level while also engaging deeply with technical programs to understand timelines, dependencies, risks, and execution tradeoffs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strong working understanding of Voya’s technology, engineering, product roadmap, and fuel strategy
- Work closely with functional leaders to build and maintain a clear view of program milestones, owners, timelines, dependencies, risks, blockers, and decision points
- Surface key gaps, misallocated resources or incorrect assumptions
- Own and maintain Voya’s company master timeline across product, engineering, technology, commercial, and fuels
- Create and maintain program dashboards, trackers, and operating documents that give leadership a clear, current view of execution status
- Support planning processes, including semi-annual planning and monthly planning sessions, OKR tracking, company milestone reviews, and long-range roadmap coordination
- Improve internal systems across tools such as Asana, Confluence, Google Drive, Slack and other company platforms
- Help make Voya’s internal operating model clearer, cleaner, and more scalable as the company grows (ex. meeting cadences, workflows, etc.)
Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally combining hands-on technical experience with program management experience
- Candidates should have direct experience in engineering, hardware development, product development, applied science, technical program management, or a related technical discipline, with the ability to understand how complex products are built and how technical teams operate
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical sciences, or another technical field strongly preferred
- Advanced technical degree or MBA a plus
- Strong technical fluency, with the ability to understand hardware/product development timelines, engineering dependencies, technical risks, and tradeoffs
- Strong program management fundamentals, including experience defining workstreams, milestones, owners, dependencies, risks, decision points, critical path items, and escalation paths
- Experience managing cross-functional programs with multiple stakeholders, ambiguous ownership, evolving timelines, and meaningful execution dependencies
- Ability to move between technical detail and executive-level synthesis
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain integrated roadmaps, master timelines, dashboards, trackers, operating documents, and leadership reporting systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to turn complex discussions into clear decisions, action items, program plans, and executive updates
- Hightly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent follow-through and the judgment to know when to escalate
