About the role
The Data & AI team at Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead strategic Data & AI initiatives across the organization. This role involves managing cross-functional, complex projects and driving alignment among various teams.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery for strategic Data & AI programs spanning product, platform, and internal-facing initiatives.
- Create and maintain technical schedules, priorities, and execution plans for multiple Data & AI workstreams.
- Partner with and influence Data Engineering, ML/AI, Analytics, Platform, and Product teams to align on scope, sequencing, and trade-offs.
- Identify and mitigate technical and programmatic risks early in the project lifecycle.
- Earn credibility with engineers, data scientists, and ML practitioners through technical fluency and program management expertise.
- Provide regular status updates and escalate issues proactively.
- Model and encourage the use of AI tools within the program management workflow.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a TPM for Data & AI projects.
- 8+ years of Technical or Engineering Program Management experience.
- A BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with the Data Engineering stack and proficiency with AI tools like Cowork, Gemini, and Codex.
- Experience building TPM productivity tools using AI tools.
- Ability to operate in highly technical, ambiguous environments and earn credibility with technical teams.
- Proven experience working in a rich cross-functional setting with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with agile and waterfall development processes using Jira or similar tools.
- Proven track record planning budgets, maintaining forecasts, and managing risk registers.
