Staff Technical Product Operations Manager
About the role
Aurora is seeking a Staff Technical Product Operations Manager to drive operational excellence and support the scaling of Aurora’s Mapping operations and technology for self-driving.
Responsibilities
- Drive alignment across Engineering, Mapping Ops, Systems Safety, and Product Program Management to translate business objectives into concrete, tactical plans for the teams.
- Partner closely with Map Engineering and Ops leads to plan product alignment, operational readiness, and continuous improvement across internal systems and tools.
- Build technical understanding at the architectural level and advocate for solutions that balance engineering effort with impactful operational performance gains.
- Translate operational inefficiencies into prioritized product requirements, including defining MVP capabilities, user acceptance testing, and Ops implementation plans.
- Apply analytical frameworks to conduct user research and product analysis to synthesize clear, measurable improvement opportunities and prioritize with engineering leaders.
- Influence senior stakeholders with data-driven narratives to inform product and operational decisions.
- Develop detailed project plans and experiments with clear objectives, structures, and analytical rigor.
- Track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks, and communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders.
- Manage complex, cross-functional projects at a large scale, instilling an efficient project management mindset and workflow across the teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of related work experience, particularly in Product Management, Product Operations, or Technical Program Management.
- Direct, measurable impact through the design, development, and launch of groundbreaking products or delivery of significant and novel technology programs.
- High technical aptitude with an ability to understand technical designs, software development lifecycle, challenges, and risks; ability to work closely with engineers.
- Strong experience in project management, practical familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and ability to apply them where best suited.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust communication based on audience.
- Strong problem-solver with ability to organize ambiguity into clear, actionable plans, passion for shipping new to market products, and ability to dynamically adapt.
- Data fluency and experience with visualization tools using SQL and Python, turning data into actionable business insights.
Qualifications
- Experience with HD maps, geospatial systems, robotics, autonomy, and simulation environments.
- Experience supporting Machine Learning or data labeling pipelines.
- Experience using JIRA to build structures and frameworks to manage deliverables.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $181,000 - $262,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.
Schedule
Working at Aurora, you will be expected to be in the office at least 3 days per week.
