About the role
Pratt & Whitney is looking for a dedicated individual to support our Hollow Fan Blade Material Control Lab. This is a second shift, onsite position requiring U.S. citizenship. The role involves working in a dynamic environment to advance the performance, capabilities, and efficiency of the lab.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and evaluation of metallurgical test specimens
- Support the development of new processes and materials through metallurgical preparation and evaluations
- Provide training and development of support contractors
- Support the scheduling of workloads and job assignments
- Interface with production management and the hourly workforce to explain metallurgical results
- Participate in root cause and corrective action
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement events
Requirements
- Advanced degree and 6+ months of experience in Quality, Engineering, or Operations in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, or other heavily-regulated industry; OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant industry experience; OR
- Associate’s degree and 4+ years of relevant industry experience; OR
- High School Diploma or specialized Technical or Military training and 6+ years of relevant industry experience
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and procedures to assess conformance of test specimens
Qualifications we prefer
- University degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Quality Engineering preferred)
- Knowledge of inspection tools, equipment, and Quality Management Systems (e.g., AS9100)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and familiarity with geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
- Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices, quality standards, and inspection methods
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools (e.g., CORE/ACE/Six Sigma, QCPC, RCCA Red-X, Fault Tree)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a group setting, interfacing with shop floor operators and inspection personnel
Schedule
This is a second shift position with typical work hours from 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
Pay
The salary range for this role is 43,400 USD – 82,600 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels, and RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education, and key skills.
