Position Summary
Walmart is seeking a Staff, Security Automation Engineer to help design, implement, and modernize automation for our Endpoint security infrastructure. This role will focus on automating the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of EDR solutions, as well as building scalable endpoint solutions with Infrastructure as Code, Automate system reporting, and work with diverse platforms and datasets.
About the role
You will play a key role in reducing manual operational effort by developing automation for infrastructure maintenance, enforcing configuration standards, and monitoring for configuration drift across large, distributed enterprise environments. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across systems, networks, and APIs, and brings a strong foundation in Python, system administration, and software development fundamentals.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain automation for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of EDR platforms.
- Develop automation to support everyday tasks such as password rotations, certificate management.
- Build workflows to automate infrastructure maintenance, including routine health checks, upgrades, and operational validation.
- Implement solutions to enforce configuration standards using templates or baselines, and monitor for configuration drift over time.
- Integrate automation with varying security platforms using RESTful APIs.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems that support automation and security tooling.
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts and services, applying best practices for logging, error handling, and maintainability.
- Read and interpret API documentation and integrate with internal and external services.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automation and infrastructure code.
- Use Git-based workflows for version control, collaboration, and code reviews.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering and security teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation to support operational teams and ongoing improvements.
Minimum Qualifications

- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 4 years’ experience in systems and infrastructure engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
- Option 2: 6 years’ experience in systems and infrastructure engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

- Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CCSP, or GSEC, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area and 2 years’ experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects,

Compensation Range
- Bentonville, Arkansas US-09050: The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
- Sunnyvale, California US-11656: The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00
- Herndon, Virginia US-10710: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00
