About the role

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Cybersecurity Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Cybersecurity Systems Engineer supporting the B-2 program. The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (CSE) assesses software and hardware for vulnerabilities, develops automation for cybersecurity processes, and investigates complex technical issues. The ideal applicant guides and supports security layout and architecture, influences security tools selection and development, evaluates and assesses proposed and realized implementations to identify security risks, and verifies cybersecurity protections. This position requires guiding and supporting the development of verification efforts to ensure cybersecurity protections and capabilities are functional, effective, and complete.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex technical problems involving low-level cybersecurity concepts.
  • Provide technical leadership in cybersecurity concepts and tasks.
  • Assess software static code analysis results.
  • Complete Cybersecurity Impact Appraisals/Evaluations on hardware projects.
  • Generate and maintain appropriate artifacts for Air Force authorization decisions.
  • Perform system vulnerability scans using tools such as ACAS and STIGs.
  • Perform manual STIG/SRG verifications on disparate types of equipment, including collecting and evaluating findings.
  • Perform system categorization based on impact analysis.
  • Develop artifacts required for a Risk Management Framework (RMF) package: System Security Plan, Continuous Monitoring Plan, Risk Assessment Report, Security Control Traceability Matrix, Plan of Actions & Milestones, etc.
  • Participate and lead in systems engineering events across the system development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events across the system development lifecycle, including PDR, CDR, SRR, TRR.
  • Implement, review, and assess cybersecurity system requirements verification and validation methods.

Requirements

Staff Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (Level 5)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, or another STEM degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, OR 10 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree, OR 8 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity vulnerability assessments and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, NSS/CSA PM 9-12, and JSIG.
  • Current/active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Current CISSP or Security+ CE certificate or IAM III certification or higher, or ability to attain Security+ CE certificate within 6 months.
  • Ability to be program cleared.

Senior Principal Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (Level 4)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, or another STEM degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, OR 6 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree, OR 4 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity vulnerability assessments and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, NSS/CSA PM 9-12, and JSIG.
  • Current/active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Current Security+ CE certificate or IAM II certification or higher, or ability to attain Security+ CE certificate within 6 months.
  • Ability to be program cleared.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program cleared.
  • Current CSSLP, CISSP, or other IAM III certification per DoD 8140.

Pay

Primary salary range: $127,900.00 - $191,900.00. Secondary salary range: $159,400.00 - $239,000.00. The above salary ranges represent general guidelines; actual base salary offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
