Staff Software Engineer, Transform

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Transform team at FloQast, you are a primary architect of the "Operating System for Accounting." This role is for a technical visionary who thrives on solving "impossible" distributed systems problems and understands that the best code empowers an entire engineering organization to move faster. You will define the technical North Star for FloQast Transform, our centralized hub where accountants can create, test, deploy, and manage bespoke AI Agents. You will drive step-function improvements in how we deliver our Visual Agent Builder and empower global brands to automate complex workflows without touching a line of code. This position is hybrid in our San Jose office.

Responsibilities

• Architect the core platform capabilities powering FloQast Transform and the next generation of AI-driven workflows, ensuring scalability, resilience, and elegance in distributed systems, AI Agent infrastructure, and visual workflow builders.
• Lead high-level design discussions to resolve complex trade-offs, establishing rigorous engineering best practices that raise technical standards across our automation ecosystem.
• Bridge the gap between technical possibilities and business needs by partnering with Product and Design to translate ambiguous goals into executable technical roadmaps for intuitive, agentic accounting automation.
• Mentor senior engineers, fostering a culture of deep technical curiosity and high-performance execution, with success measured by the growth of those around you.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience shipping complex, enterprise-grade software, with a deep understanding of the lifecycle of a maturing platform.
• Expertise in modern backend stacks, specifically Go, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS, with a focus on APIs, platform-first design, scalable workflow orchestration, and secure, compliant SaaS architectures.
• Strong product intuition and an outcome-driven mindset; you build to drive business impact, solve real customer pain points, and empower accounting teams to automate rules-based workflows.
• Ability to navigate "grey areas," turning napkin-sketch ideas into production-ready solutions through influence and technical clarity.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $164,000 - $246,000. Compensation includes base salary and a competitive Total Rewards package.
