Staff Software Engineer (Platform)

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Build software that solves complex problems while considering long-term strategy and direction.
• Lead the development of complex, data-driven user interfaces in Angular or React, with a strong emphasis on state management, data flow, and performance at scale.
• Deliver simple, elegant, and extensible solutions that handle large datasets and real-time campaign data, ensuring the UI remains responsive and accurate.
• Collaborate across Product, Design, and Engineering to build intuitive experiences, while also working with backend systems and data layers to ensure efficient data access and correctness.
• Primarily supporting Viant’s DSP, you will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Technical Operations teams throughout the entire lifecycle, from ideation to productization and beyond.

MUST HAVE

• 8+ years of professional experience in the software industry.
• Deep experience with Angular and TypeScript.
• Strong expertise in state management patterns.
• Experience building data-heavy, interactive applications such as dashboards or analytics tools.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous data flows, event-driven architectures, and client-side data modeling.
• Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries for application support and reporting.
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and understanding backend data models.

GREAT TO HAVE

• Minimum B.S. in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience with backend technologies such as Java or Go.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, especially AWS and GCP.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks like Jest or Cypress.
• Exposure to container-based architecture, NoSQL databases, or message queues.
• AdTech experience is a plus.
