About the role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The PD Capacity space delivers the models and systems that guarantee sufficient resources for Persistent Disk (PD), enabling us to meet obtainability and performance SLOs while maintaining low costs.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and run scalable distributed systems that leverage data-science forecasting models and provide APIs to track capacity and resource availability across PD.
  • Provide core services to manage the complete lifecycle of resources, from acquiring underlying infrastructure to divesting unneeded capacity and optimizing high-performance usage.
  • Develop robust tenancy protection mechanisms that balance fair resource distribution with the high-scale demands of enterprise and ML workloads.
  • Secure and maintain sufficient supply and reservations across all resource pools, including bytes, performance types, compute, and memory.
  • Cookordinate resource co-location between PD and GCE to guarantee cell capacity directly aligns with evolving AI workload requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, 8 years of experience programming in C++, 5 years of experience testing and launching software products, 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture, 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, 5 years of experience with system-level multi-threaded software, 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction, 3 years of experience working in a complex organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects, Experience in using data science or statistical methods to develop insights and solve problems.

Pay

$207,000 - $301,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
