Staff Software Engineer , Observability

This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation within a leading Media company. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions, influencing architecture, execution quality, and long-term technology capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to build and maintain the company’s infrastructure platform
• Enhance the availability, scalability, and efficiency of observability components
• Provide feedback on the technical direction of eventing at the company
• Automate processes within the event-driven development workflow
• Share on-call duties while managing system reliability
• Contribute to upstream developments of open source tools utilized at the company

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing internet-scale software, preferably in infrastructure
• Familiarity with distributed systems development; knowledge of tools like Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana is a plus
• Experience with Kubernetes or similar distributed systems; controller/operator development is highly desirable
• Strong troubleshooting skills in both systems and software practices
• Demonstrated ability to engineer large systems and proactively oversee projects
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a team

Pay

$217,000 – $303,900 annually
