Staff Software Engineer - Integrated Test
About the role
We are looking for a SW engineer experienced in simulation environments and tools for our integrated test organization that is at the center of the validation and verification activities for Archer’s VTOL aircraft. It’s high-ownership, high-visibility work that directly enables our path to certification and commercial operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and build simulation environments for integrated labs, HILs and SW benches used in aircraft validation and verification
- Own the tools and interfaces for the above labs for optimizing workflows and ensuring configuration management and traceability that supports certification and regulatory requirements
- Integrate third-party software and hardware systems into simulation architectures, collaborating closely with internal teams and suppliers
- Develop and optimize simulation pipelines with CI/CD integration for automated deployment, execution, and monitoring
- Set technical standards, mentor other engineers, lead work breakdowns and planning, and drive resolution of complex issues across labs
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in building and maintaining HW-in-the-loop test simulation environments and associated SW tools
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace, Software, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong C/C++ and Python skills
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink in a real-time simulation environment
- Strong command of communication protocols: RS-422/485, CAN/CAN-FD, ARINC-429, Ethernet/TCP-IP
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and agile workflows
- Comfortable with planning, execution, and technical mentorship of teammates
- Strong problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and trouble-shooting skills
Nice to have
- Experience in aerospace, spacecraft, or autonomous vehicles
- Proficiency in the NI software suite (LabVIEW, VeriStand)
- Experience in real-time OS development
- Familiarity with FAA frameworks and DO-178 standards

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $170,000 - $215,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
