About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Software Engineer to join our Growth Engineering team. This full-stack role, with an emphasis on frontend development, will be crucial in driving the technical strategy and implementation of growth initiatives across our customer platform.

Responsibilities

  • Drive front-end excellence across Growth Engineering, ensuring the creation of fast, accessible, and visually polished experiences that reflect the Hims & Hers brand and delight users at every interaction.
  • Champion UI performance, accessibility, and responsiveness, setting measurable standards (e.g., LCP, CLS, interactivity) and collaborating with teams to achieve top-tier metrics that directly improve conversion and engagement.
  • Lead cross-team initiatives from inception through execution, coordinating stakeholders, managing risk, and ensuring delivery on key success metrics.
  • Serve as the accountable technical leader for key systems or domains, taking ownership of both system outcomes and long-term evolution.
  • Model principled decision-making, balancing short-term delivery with long-term system health and organizational scale.
  • Champion cross-functional alignment, ensuring technical direction is tightly integrated with product strategy and roadmap priorities.
  • Lead architectural design and evolution for systems that span multiple teams, aligning abstractions with long-term scalability and business goals.
  • Create and promote shared architectural patterns, tools, and infrastructure that improve engineering efficiency and velocity across teams.
  • Participate in product discovery sessions to assess feasibility, explore user needs, define product features, and validate ideas with prototypes and experiments.
  • Proactively identify systemic risks and lead the design and implementation of resilient, observable, and scalable solutions.
  • Mentor senior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Drive technical discussions and provide insights as a member of our technical advisory group to help guide and provide feedback on critical decisions and provide insights to shape the growth engineering strategy and roadmap.
  • Drive a mindset of operational excellence through continuous improvement and learning.
  • Analyze performance metrics and user feedback to inform technical direction and product enhancements, ensuring a seamless user experience.
  • Stay on top of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our engineering processes and product offerings.

Requirements

  • 12+ years as a software engineer, shipping production code.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects and driving successful cross-team initiatives.
  • Deep architectural expertise in designing scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems in a modern software environment.
  • Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next, GraphQL) and libraries, as well as backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python).

Qualifications

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in aligning engineering efforts with product and business goals, and influencing roadmap priorities with long-term scalability in mind.
  • Comfortable navigating high ambiguity and enabling teams to execute effectively in evolving or uncertain environments.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of influencing and impacting without authority across teams and the company.
  • Experience introducing new architecture and design concepts, including coaching, adoption, and execution within your domain and aligned with tech organization strategies.
