Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design, delivery, and testing of large-scale, compliant software systems that align directly with Verily's high-impact strategic goals.
- Take highly undefined problem spaces and independently translate them into structured software plans, predictable timelines, and concrete technical execution for the team.
- Drive systemic improvements in tooling, documentation, and development workflows to resolve root-cause defects and optimize overall team productivity.
- Empower the engineering organization by guiding architectural decisions, leading technical discussions, and mentoring junior engineers to scale their capabilities.
- Partner across engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to define robust requirements, clear critical roadblocks, and shape the platform's strategic direction.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience in software engineering.
- 8+ years experience developing and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure products and services in production in Go, Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
- Prior experience with cloud technologies: Google Cloud Platform/Amazon Web Services/Azure or other cloud providers, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Backstage, or related tools.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design with strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Strong communication skills in scenarios like deriving requirements from customers, articulating the scope of a problem, or documenting a proposed system design.
