Staff Software Engineer - Distributed Data Systems

Responsibilities

• Build next generation distributed data storage and processing systems
• Develop Apache Spark as the open-source standard for big data
• Deliver high-performance data storage services for cloud backends
• Create and manage Delta Lake for data management with ACID transactions
• Simplify orchestration of high-quality data pipelines through Delta Pipelines
• Develop a fast, scalable, and tuning-free query optimizer and execution engine

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Optional: MS or PhD in databases or distributed systems
• 8+ years of production level experience in Java, Scala, or C++
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures
• Experience with distributed systems, databases, and big data systems, such as Apache Spark and Hadoop
• Comfortable with long-term project vision and incremental deliverables
• Driven by delivering customer value and impact
