About the role

As agentic AI becomes the core fabric of how engineering is done worldwide, we want to lead the way in how agents interact with APIs. This transformation requires solving agentic identity, extending or building new standards and protocols, and enabling agent-to-agent interactions including authorization, licensing, trust delegation, security, and monetization.

We are looking for an exceptional Staff Engineer to help build the next generation of our Business Platform for the agentic era. You will set the long-term vision for the architecture of various platform components, define the technical strategy and roadmap, and work with multiple teams to oversee and contribute to delivery. You’ll own critical operational KPIs such as availability and uptime, design and implement tier-0 services, and collaborate with product management and engineering leaders. The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on leader with a relentless drive for quality, strong industry knowledge, and the ability to mentor senior engineers and influence leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for architecture and help teams build highly secure, scalable, reliable, and performant systems for hundreds of millions of developers.
  • Identify dependencies and review key designs to ensure architectural consistency and business alignment.
  • Lead the team to deliver multiple projects in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Build an operational center of excellence with effective observability, scalability, performance, and quality focus.
  • Be hands-on and lead by example in implementation and problem-solving.
  • Partner with senior engineering managers and product leaders to prioritize work and create a balanced roadmap.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive org design, set and execute the roadmap, and influence strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on goals, drive engineering initiatives, and create broad organizational impact.
  • Mentor senior engineers and help grow the next level of engineering leadership.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong experience with identity management standards (e.g., SAML, SCIM, SSO, OAuth, FIDO).
  • 10+ years of hands-on coding experience with common programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, PHP, Python, JavaScript, NodeJS).
  • 10+ years of engineering experience building end-to-end backend services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects with meaningful business impact.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, design, and analytical skills.
  • Experience designing highly scalable systems.
  • Bias for action and a sense of humor.

Pay

Reasonably estimated salary for this role ranges from $245,250 to $300,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.

Schedule

This role is based in the greater San Francisco area and requires in-office collaboration 5 days a week. Our in-office model emphasizes shared knowledge, brainstorming, communication, and building trust.
