About the Opportunity
The Staff Software Engineer for mobile application development plays a critical technical leadership role in defining and executing the mobile strategy across Product Engineering teams. This position is responsible for driving innovation, mentoring engineers, and delivering scalable, high-performing mobile solutions aligned with product and business goals. The role significantly influences mobile architecture and technical direction, contributing directly to the organization's ability to provide impactful digital products.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, and deployment of scalable mobile applications.
- Define and drive technical vision and architecture for mobile products.
- Provide leadership in native and hybrid mobile development and performance optimization.
- Maintain code quality and ensure safe production system changes.
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders to establish technical strategy.
- Mentor engineers at various levels through knowledge sharing and guidance.
- Drive performance improvements for native and hybrid applications.
- Partner with engineering managers on team evaluations and hiring.
- Influence internal and external technical communities.
- Perform other duties aligned with organizational priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Over 10 years of software development experience, with strong mobile application development expertise.
- Extensive experience in native (Swift, Kotlin) and hybrid (Flutter) mobile development.
- Knowledge of Spring Framework and RESTful API integration.
- Familiarity with native development tools (Xcode, Android Studio).
- Proven ability to define scalable and maintainable mobile system architectures.
- Strong skills in mobile development best practices, performance profiling, and optimization.
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for remote team environments.
- Experience with Lean development, pair programming, TDD, and trunk-based development.
- Understanding of app store submission processes and platform compliance.
- Experience with CI/CD tools for mobile build and deployment automation.
- Knowledge of advanced testing frameworks for mobile apps.
- Expertise in accessibility standards and inclusive mobile design.
