Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Utilize AI coding assistants and LLMs proficiently to accelerate development velocity, generate boilerplate, and troubleshoot complex debugging scenarios.
• Provide system-wide view and design guidance to the squad members and influence the design decisions made by other teams.
• Guide the team in making the right trade-offs between short-term requirements and the long-term business/operational success of the squad.
• Mentor by actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, and team planning.
• Work on project ideas with Product Management and engage with customers, stakeholders, and peers.
• Lead the design and delivery for the ambiguous/complex problem space in the squad.
• Develop solutions that are of high quality, scalable, and reliable.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, and Engineers in squads.
• Mentor and develop a team of engineers.
• Investigate and prototype technologies that can be leveraged to introduce new innovations.
• Be self-directed, take initiative, and drive towards solutions with little guidance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience contributing to system architecture and design.
• Experience in software development and a strong willingness to learn our technology stack, including: Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, NumPy, Pandas), React, Node.js, and GraphQL.
• Experience with cloud systems (AWS preferred).
• Knowledge with data platforms and pipelines (Snowflake & Airflow preferred).
• Experience working with relational or non-relational databases.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Interest in AI and ML, with a willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies.
• Experience delivering high value to customers quickly and frequently, with regular feedback and support.
• Experience evaluating trade-offs between design approaches.
• Software engineering best practices (e.g., testing, code reviews, documentation).
• Experience in developing scalable systems.
