Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

This is a Staff-level Software Engineering opportunity with an innovative healthcare technology company building AI-powered products that improve patient care. As the senior-most individual contributor on the engineering team, you'll help define the company's technical architecture while remaining hands-on in production code. You'll establish engineering standards, guide long-term platform decisions, and help build the foundation for AI-assisted software development in a highly regulated healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable production software for a modern healthcare platform
• Define technical architecture and engineering best practices
• Lead technical decision-making across internal engineering teams and external development partners
• Build secure, compliant systems with patient privacy and HIPAA requirements at the core
• Establish patterns and guardrails for AI-assisted software development
• Write high-quality production code while serving as a technical leader through influence
• Utilize AI development tools to increase engineering productivity while maintaining code quality and sound technical judgment

Requirements

• Proven experience as a senior individual contributor owning production software systems end-to-end
• Strong backend development experience using Python, Go, or Rust
• Full stack experience is preferred, including React and TypeScript
• Experience designing software architecture for scalable production systems
• Experience developing healthcare technology solutions with hands-on PHI/HIPAA compliance
• Demonstrated ability to establish technical direction without direct people management
• Experience using AI tools as part of the software development lifecycle
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• Authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Pay

Target salary for this role is $170,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience.
