Our deep curiosity and eagerness to share diverse passions inject a one-of-a-kind vibrancy into our culture. About the role
As a Staff Engineer on Braze’s AI Decisioning Experience team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our AI decisioning (reinforcement learning-based personalization) solutions. You will lead high-impact initiatives, mentor other engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence in our product offerings.
Responsibilities
- Lead high-impact initiatives across Decisioning Studio, Braze's AI Decisioning product line, on both the self-serve DS Go and managed DS Pro tiers: agent setup, creative, and launch workflows, the reporting that helps marketers understand and trust the results, and the services that connect the UX to our ML pipelines
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and ML engineering teams to turn a fast-moving AI product roadmap into intuitive, reliable software
- Build the full stack of these experiences, from dashboard UI down to the APIs and services that connect the Braze platform to our ML pipelines
- Lead efforts in web application architecture to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance across our platform
- Influence Braze’s product strategy and roadmap by providing technical insights and driving innovation in user experience
- Mentor engineers, provide guidance on technical growth, and foster a high-performance engineering culture
- Support teams implementing Braze’s AI solutions to ensure customer success and facilitate effective collaboration
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience with a strong track record of delivering impact
- Work comfortably across the full stack: design and build data models, APIs, and background jobs behind your features, and own a product surface end to end
- Strong frontend development skills (TypeScript, React; Vue experience is a plus) with a high bar for polished, intuitive user experiences, including the testing discipline to keep them reliable
- Strong background in designing and maintaining scalable web application architectures
- Expert practitioner of agentic development: AI coding agents are your default workflow, you build reusable skills and automation that raise the whole team's velocity, and you have a track record of dramatically above-baseline throughput without sacrificing quality
- Communicate with clarity in writing and in person: produce design docs and technical proposals that people actually read, and explain complex systems to engineers, product partners, and stakeholders
- User-centric attitude and passion for creating exceptional user experiences
- Pride in writing elegant, maintainable code and fostering a culture of quality within your team
- Comfort navigating a large codebase with multiple stakeholders and driving consensus on technical decisions
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to their technical development
Qualifications
- Experience developing user experiences for machine learning and data-intensive applications
- Experience building product surfaces on top of LLMs and agentic systems (embeddings, agent orchestration, evaluation)
- Experience with Python and/or Ruby on Rails
